DAF Dissolved Air Flotation Unit
Product Overview
The DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) unit removes fats, oils, grease and suspended solids using fine air bubbles. It is widely used as pre-treatment for industrial and food-industry wastewater.
Working Principle
Air is dissolved into water under pressure and released into the flotation cell, forming micro-bubbles that attach to particles and float them to the surface for skimming, while clarified water is drawn from below.
Key Features
- Effective FOG and suspended-solids removal
- Compact, high-rate separation
- Often combined with coagulation and flocculation
Advantages
- Protects downstream biological stages
- Reduces organic and solids load
- Continuous operation

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is DAF used?
Most often as pre-treatment to remove fats, oils, grease and solids before biological treatment.
Does DAF use chemicals?
Usually coagulant and flocculant dosing improves performance, depending on the wastewater.
Is DAF continuous?
